Full-On Expertise Without a Full-Time Schedule

Giving mission-driven organizations access to great People leaders

coLeague was founded in 2022 on a simple premise: every mission-driven organization deserves access to experienced, senior People leadership, regardless of whether or not it’s time for a full-time hire. We embed fractional People Leaders across the entire talent vertical, from Chief People Officers to HR Managers and more, into nonprofits and mission-driven organizations that are navigating growth, transition, or the realization that their people infrastructure hasn't kept up with their vision.

Our coLeaguers don't parachute in and disappear. They join your team, learn your culture, and show up as genuine leaders for as long as you need them, backed by a network and support system that most fractional firms simply don't offer.

Praise for the coLeaguers

“Michele is a true [Chief People Officer] with years of experience. If you want someone who can truly help you transform your org and have fun doing it, she's your gal. Similarly, Ramsey has been an expert on all things talent and recruitment.”

— Rocky Mountain Prep

“Lucy, our coLeaguer, has been the support we didn't know we needed. She's worked within our current dysfunctional systems while helping us dream, design, and implement new structures, systems, and approaches.”

— ALCO Management

“Katherine was excellent. I recommend her to other organizations in need of executive-level seasoned talent, skills, and knowledge. She's also willing and capable of rolling up her sleeves when needed too. That flexibility is invaluable.”

— Tyton Partners

coLeague’s People Leaders

Lora Cover, Founder and CEO

Lora Cover has spent more than 25 years in Talent leadership, with the same running thread: the only way to achieve your mission and goals is for your people to be thriving. Two more firm beliefs: people-centric work must also be equity-centric, and great Talent leadership is about capacity-building at every level in the organization.

Lora's stacked resume includes Chief Talent Officer at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, more than a decade at Teach For America, Bellwether Education Partners, and co-founding Promise54 before founding coLeague in 2022. Her expertise spans recruitment, workforce development strategy, and compensation and evaluation system builds, especially within educational organizations.

Lora holds a B.S. in Labor Relations from Cornell University and an MPA from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She and her husband, Avi, live in Shaker Heights, Ohio in an empty nest after raising her kids there. She fills her time serving on the local school board and taking her pandemic puppy Olive on long walks.

Sarah Braver, COO and Co-Lead

Sarah Braver has spent more than 15 years helping organizations build workplaces that actually work for the people inside them, and she will tell you herself that she came to this work the long way around.

Sarah started at Duke Corporate Education, organizing leadership development programs for Fortune 50 companies across three continents. Here she began thinking about every small nonprofit with a big mission that would never have access to that kind of expertise. She carried that mindset into the education nonprofit space and then into a pattern she now describes with some amusement: she would go into an organization as a consultant, fall completely in love with the mission, and end up joining full-time as their founding Head of People. She did this three times, building systems, hiring teams, and essentially working herself out of a job each time.

Sarah lives in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, does Pilates and powerlifting (yes, both), and has been traveling to the same small town in Tuscany every year for 25 years. She loves Broadway, yarn stores, social justice work, and talking about any of this at length.

A Few Things We Won't Budge On

  • Work doesn't have to be awful, and a great People leader is the single biggest lever for making that true.

  • The most successful organizations are the ones that empower their people. This isn't a competing goal with organizational success — it's the same goal, and it always has been.

  • All talent work is change work. The most technically perfect HR system in the world is only as good as the trust behind it.

  • We do not work with organizations that contribute to injustice. We protect our coLeaguers, and if one is being mistreated we remove them immediately, without negotiation.

  • We teach organizations how to do better by their people, and we hold ourselves to the same standard.

Want In On the Action?

Our coLeaguers are experienced People and Talent professionals who want to do embedded, meaningful work without the constraints of a single full-time role and who want the support of a network behind them while they do it. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
