What exactly is a fractional People leader?
A fractional People leader is an experienced human resources or talent professional who works with your organization on a part-time basis, typically 10 to 30 hours per week, embedded in your team rather than consulting from a distance. They show up as your People leader, attending leadership meetings, knowing your staff, and handling both the strategic and the day-to-day. They bring the expertise of a full-time, senior leader without the commitment.
Can I get a coLeaguer who isn't a C-suite exec?
Absolutely. Most fractional human resources firms focus exclusively on the C-suite, which means you’re out of luck if you actually need an HR Manager or an HR Business Partner. Our pool of candidates (who we call coLeaguers) range across the entire talent vertical — Chief People Officers, HR Directors, Business Partners, HR Managers, and Recruitment Directors — because organizations at different stages need different kinds of support.
How quickly can you place someone?
Fast. Depending on your needs and how much vetting you want to do yourself, we can typically have a coLeaguer in place within a matter of days. We've built our matching process and our database specifically so we can move at the pace your situation requires.
What happens if the fit isn't right?
For starters, it’s very rare, but when it does happen, we handle it. Since you're contracting with coLeague and not an individual, we can replace your coLeaguer quickly if the fit isn't right. This is one of the things our clients tell us they value most about the model.
Once you place a coLeaguer, is that the last we’ll hear from you?
No — we’ll check in with you regularly to make sure the fractional placement is working, but also to offer ongoing advice and support to your coLeaguer. You may only have one coLeaguer officially on your team, but when you work with us, you’re getting the expertise of our entire Rolodex.
How is this different from hiring a consultant?
Traditional consultants typically work on a defined deliverable from a distance and hand it off when the project is done. Our coLeaguers are embedded in your organization. They know your team, your culture, and your context, and they show up as a genuine member of your leadership team for the duration of the engagement. The work is more flexible, more responsive, and more connected to what's actually happening inside your organization.
